Micros are one tenth of minis
So 1 NQ copied as 10 MNQ gives the follower the same dollar exposure as the lead. 1 NQ copied as 1 MNQ gives one tenth.
Set it up
1
Open the follower's settings
On the Accounts page, open the follower and go to the Settings tab.
2
Add the mapping
Under Symbol mapping, click the NQ → MNQ ×10 preset, or click Add mapping and enter NQ and MNQ.
3
Choose the multiplier
×10 matches the lead’s exposure. Lower it to reduce risk: ×5 is half, ×2 is one fifth, ×1 is one tenth.
4
Set a maximum
Set Max contracts to the most micros this account should ever hold, for example 20.
5
Add other markets
Add ES → MES or any other pair you trade. Markets without a mapping are copied as the same contract.
6
Save and test
Click Save changes, wait for the follower to restart, then trade 1 NQ on the lead and check the follower’s size in the logs.
The mapping’s multiplier replaces the follower’s sizing method for that symbol. With NQ → MNQ ×5, the follower always trades 5 MNQ per NQ on the lead, whatever sizing method it uses.
Example: a 100K lead with three micro followers
The lead trades NQ. It buys 2 NQ, then takes 1 NQ off at the first target.
Whole-number multipliers mean partial exits on the lead turn into whole micro contracts on every follower.
Things to watch
- Rounding. Every result is a whole number of contracts. Fractional multipliers such as ×2.5 can round in ways you don’t expect with small trades.
- Micros to minis is harder. You can map MNQ → NQ ×0.1, but 5 MNQ becomes half an NQ. Only do this if the lead always trades in multiples of ten.
- Prop firm limits. Your firm may count micros differently towards position limits. Check before choosing a multiplier.
- Brackets follow the mapping. With Copy stop loss and Copy take profit on, the follower’s stop and target are placed on the micro contract.
