Account protection watches a follower’s balance or equity. When it reaches a limit you set, CopyFlock closes all of the follower’s positions and pauses copying to it. Use it to stop a follower before it breaks its drawdown limit, or to lock in an evaluation once it reaches its profit target.

Set it up

In the follower’s copy settings, under Account protection:
  1. For Protection, choose Watch balance or Watch equity.
  2. Enter a lower limit in Stop at or below, an upper limit in Stop at or above, or both.
  3. Save your settings.
The upper limit must be above the lower limit.

Balance or equity?

  • Balance only changes when trades close.
  • Equity includes the profit and loss of open positions, so it reacts while a trade is still open.
Most traders protect against drawdown with equity, because that’s what most prop firms measure in real time.

Examples

For a $50,000 evaluation with a $2,500 drawdown and a $3,000 profit target:

What happens when a limit is reached

  1. CopyFlock closes all of the follower’s open positions at market price.
  2. The follower is paused, so it doesn’t copy new lead trades.
  3. The lead and your other followers carry on as normal.
When you’re ready to copy again, check the account, adjust the limits if needed, and click Resume copying. See Managing accounts.
Trailing drawdowns move; your limits don’t. If your firm’s drawdown trails your highest balance, its limit rises as you profit, but your Stop at or below level stays where you set it. Review your limits after good days and raise them to keep your buffer.

Limitations

  • Positions are closed with market orders, so the final balance can land a little past your limit in a fast market. Leave a buffer.
  • CopyFlock has no daily loss limit or trading hours setting. Use account protection, pausing and the symbol filter instead.
  • Protection applies to followers. To stop trading on the lead, stop trading it by hand.
