Symbol mapping lets a follower trade a different contract from the lead. The most common use is copying minis to micros: the lead trades NQ and the follower trades MNQ. CopyFlock never converts contracts on its own. Without a mapping, the follower trades the same contract as the lead.

Add a mapping

In the follower’s copy settings, under Symbol mapping:
  1. Click a preset, such as NQ → MNQ ×10, or click Add mapping to create your own.
  2. Enter the lead symbol (for example NQ) and the follower symbol (for example MNQ).
  3. Optionally enter a multiplier.
Use the contract’s root, such as NQ, not a dated contract such as NQZ6. A mapping for NQ matches every NQ contract month, and the follower trades the current front month. A follower can have a mapping for each market you trade, such as NQ → MNQ and ES → MES. Each lead symbol can be mapped once.

How the multiplier works

A mapping’s multiplier replaces the follower’s sizing method for that symbol. The follower trades the lead’s contracts × the mapping multiplier.
  • With a multiplier: follower contracts = lead contracts × multiplier, rounded to whole contracts.
  • Without a multiplier: the follower’s normal sizing method decides the size, and only the contract changes.
Min contracts and Max contracts still apply in both cases.

Choosing a multiplier for minis to micros

Each of these micros is one tenth the size of its mini. For example, MNQ is $2 per point and NQ is $20 per point. Whole-number multipliers keep partial exits clean. If the lead scales out of 1 NQ, a ×5 follower closes exactly 5 MNQ.

Micros to minis

You can also map the other way, for example MNQ → NQ ×0.1, so 10 MNQ on the lead becomes 1 NQ on the follower.
Be careful with rounding. 5 MNQ × 0.1 is half an NQ, and scaling out of 3 MNQ becomes 0.3 NQ, which can’t be copied exactly. Only map micros to minis if the lead always trades in multiples of ten.

Good to know

  • Stop loss and take profit orders are placed on the mapped contract.
  • Your prop firm may count micros differently towards position limits. Check before choosing a multiplier.
